The Field Supervisor and the CHV conducting the RDTs
On 23rd August 2013, Sr. Juliana the Field Supervisor had gone to Kalajari Pachayat for the field visit to Tribaigo village. Many people who are suffering from fever came to meet her. Sr. Juliana along with Mr. Rattan Molsom the CHV did the RDT test to diagnose the patient. As they were conducting the RDT many sick people from the neighboring village called Monoram passed by the way to go to the hospital which was 3-4 kilometers away. As there was heavy rain, the children from Monoram village who were sick for 5-7 days also came for the check-up. Mr. Rattan Molsom the CHV did the RDT test for 3 children. For our surprise the RDT showed strongly Pf positive for all the three. Sr. Juliana never came across any positive RDT test for the past six month. Therefore she thought it is less or unreliable test for malaria. But on that day she believed that the RDT strips were reliable test for Pf malaria. Though we gave ACT for all the three children we referred them to the hospital since the children were very sick and have associated symptoms like vomiting and anemic. Because of our assistant in the village the sick were diagnosed early for malaria and could take the treatment promptly. Now the 3 children are recuperated and are well doing. The parents of the children were happy. Sr. Juliana also informed the SDMO of Gandhachera to arrange some sort of medical camp in the village.
