JUST organized a Networking meeting of NGOs on 11th May 2019 for Peace Promotion in Tripura. In the meeting, representatives of 12 NGOs and senior Journalists took part. Explaining the objectives of the meeting, Fr. Jeevan Kennady Director of JUST said, NGOs and CBOs can play role of peace mediators. In his key note speech, veteran Journalist and Executive Editor of Tripura Times, Mr. Manas Pal detailed about different aspects of conflicts and peace process. “Resolving conflict is not the mandate of an NGO/CBO, it rests with Government and concerned stakeholders. However, NGOs and CBOs have definite roles as peace felicitators”, Pal commented. Other speakers focused on different aspect of conflicts, Peace Initiatives, and role of NGOs as peace felicitators. JUST is working as an umbrella organization for NGOs in nurturing peace in the State. Participants also shared their experiences on Peace Promotion and came out with suggestions for way forward in Tripura.
